We've got a huge variety of volunteer roles. If you would like further information on a vacancy or have any concerns/queries please contact the GUCH Office. GUCH PA provides full training, support, information and payment of expenses.

Urgent Requests

GUCH Liaison - do you live reasonably near a GUCH Unit: (Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London (3 opportunities), Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Plymouth and Southampton)? If so, can you help us keep GUCH PA information up-to-date by visiting your local GUCH Unit regularly, providing the Unit with our information and attending an annual event (where appropriate). Volunteer Reader - do you have a clear speaking voice? We need some volunteers to help read GUCH News (our quarterly newsletter) onto an audiotape (we will provide the audio cassette recorder). We need to do this so that visually impaired GUCHs can access our information.

Helpline Operator - Fridays from 11am to 3pm. Full training and expenses will be provided. You can do this from your home. No need to brave the Autumnal weather!

Charity eBay - we are looking into setting up a charity eBay page, are there any avid eBayers out there who can help?

Information/Awareness Volunteers

You will identify places where publicity or information would be useful, e.g. hospitals, libraries etc. You will distribute information in your local area and ensure it is up-to-date. You could also attend local awareness events. Information/Awareness Volunteers

Online Discussion Moderators

We are planning to schedule condition specific online discussions and need online moderators. You will help monitor and guide the discussion, make newcomers feel welcome and remind users of the rules. Online Discussion Moderators

Speakers

You will give talks and presentations on issues affecting young people and adults born with a heart condition to healthcare professionals or groups and organisations. Speakers

Media Contacts

You will promote local GUCH PA events, activities and campaigns via the local media e.g. local radio, local newspapers. Media Contacts

Fundraisers

You will take an active role increasing GUCH PA's income. You will help to generate new fundraising ideas and organise and deliver events and charity collections. This could include sponsored walks, coffee mornings, pub quizzes, karaoke nights, car boot stalls. Fundraisers

Proofreaders/Reviewers

To proofread and review (from the patients' perspective) GUCH PA leaflets and publications. Proofreaders/Reviewers

Group Leaders/Assistant Group Leaders

To set up and run or help to run groups for people affected by congenital heart conditions in your local area. Group Leaders/Assistant Group Leaders
