Role Description Group Leader Assistant Group Leader

Responsible to: Volunteer Development Manager

Main purpose: To lead a group for young people and adults affected by congenital heart disease.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the group adheres to the ground rules
  • Ensure everyone has a chance to participate
  • Organise venue and refreshments for meetings
  • Promote meetings locally
  • Organise meeting programme/agenda
  • Maintain a relationship with the local GUCH clinic (if appropriate)
  • Organise speakers and social events as appropriate
  • Provide information and resources at meetings
  • Raise funds to cover venue and refreshment costs
  • Pick up local issues and pass them onto GUCH PA's staff
  • Record keeping

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of day-to-day issues affecting people affected by congenital heart conditions
  • Friendly and open
  • Sensitive to others
  • Facilitation skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Be able to offer a service in a non-judgemental and non-discriminatory manner
  • To work to the high standards set by GUCH PA
  • Work within GUCH PA's policies and procedures
  • Attend ongoing training
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check

Based at: Local venue

Commitment: A couple of hours per month
