A congenital heart defect is an abnormality of the heart that has been present from birth. Children born with heart disease, who once would not have survived, now reach adolescence and adulthood as a result of advances in cardiac surgery and medicine.

Ebstein's anomaly

GUCH has released the following statement concerning the treatment of patients with Ebstein's anomaly

GUCH-PA, PHA UK and DHG call for specific NHS quality standard for people co-diagnosed with a congenital heart condition and PAH

GUCH-PA has joined forces with Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK (PHA UK) and Down's Heart Group (DHG) to call for the needs of people co-diagnosed with a congenital heart condition and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) to be addressed in the ongoing NHS review and designation of adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) services.

Designation of specialist service providers for grown-ups with congenital heart disease

The process to designate future NHS services for adults with congenital heart disease (GUCH services) in England is underway. The NHS will be working closely with GUCH patients, clinical staff and other relevant stakeholders to develop proposals to consult the public on the future of GUCH services.
